1/10/11 I don’t know what happens, after several days of having my time already switched over after traveling, the insomnia hits. Without my bags I don’t have my herbal sleep remedy so I’m here, awake while all you beautiful people at home are sleeping soundly.

Today is really my last day in Kampala for a few weeks I hope. I love Kampala but the quiet nature of the other smaller places is what truly brings Uganda to life for me.

Yesterday I uploaded a lot of photos to my Flickr, so make sure to see what I uploaded. I did it because I don’t know if I will have a decent connection after today.

My volunteers come in tonight and the fun begins and hopefully with them, my bags will arrive and all will be great with the world.

I just got a txt from the airport telling me that they are hoping the bags will arrive on British Air tonight at 10:30.  So basically Brussels Air farmed my bags off on BA and now have washed their hands of them.  Nice.

UPDATE 1/11/11 *Great number* my bags arrived intact! You won’t believe what you have to go through really. You have to climb 4 flights of stairs. Go the length of the airport outside to the security office, then you go in and give them your story and your passport they give you a visitor tag and a receipt.

You go through security. You go down to the baggage area and then pass through security again and then on to the bag claim area.

Then you have to take the visitor pass back up again to the security desk.

I’m thankful. Very thankful.

Something hilarious happened in the security office, the female guard there asked me if I was Ugandan…and asked me my surname. She asked about my middle name Kaye. Apparently there is a tribe in Uganda called the “Ki yay’s” spelled exactly the same as my name. She was dead serious when she asked me if I was Ugandan. I grabbed my face and said something funny about going through a lot of changes in the past 6 days. LOLOL We both had a good laugh. So it’s official, I’m Ugandan.
