{"id":502,"date":"2011-01-12T17:28:35","date_gmt":"2011-01-12T23:28:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thespicytexan.com\/travel\/?p=502"},"modified":"2014-01-03T18:39:54","modified_gmt":"2014-01-04T00:39:54","slug":"humbled-by-silent-tears","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thespicytexan.com\/travel\/humbled-by-silent-tears\/","title":{"rendered":"Humbled by Silent Tears"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I am very tired but I wanted to write a small note with a few thoughts on today. \u00a0 We spent the whole afternoon with orphans.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tragic, beautiful&#8230;haunting. \u00a0It always is. \u00a0It always takes a piece of me and just shatters me. \u00a0Still, and will again and again.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I thought of how much their lives were like the wilderness, and that they are still growing and thriving throughout all of their\u00a0devastation, with just a tiny bit of watering.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was like it always is, the children attack with affection, at your legs, your hands, your arms and any part they can cling to. \u00a0 This gesture if for but a moment seems to heal their wounds and create comfort and smiles. \u00a0When I embrace them it reminds me that brokenness is a part of \u00a0life, and some take on a bit more than others. \u00a0 I hope that somehow I can take on this challenge and help these children plant a seedbed of their brokenness and grow new life. It is a huge challenge.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A beautiful 6 year old girl saw us getting ready to leave. \u00a0We had loved on her so much and she was precious and touched our hands, and inspected my skin for every freckle and imperfection. \u00a0 She gently played with the littles and mommied all the babies. \u00a0She had taken on a big role in their lives. \u00a0At this shocking time of our leaving, the realization that our touch would be removed was more than she could take. \u00a0 Who would be <em><strong>her mommy now<\/strong> <\/em>we are leaving?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The tears began to roll down her cheeks. \u00a0No sound, head down, broken. \u00a0I sat with nothing to do or say but join her in sadness and tears. \u00a0 All orphans know this familiar silent cry. \u00a0 The cry that has no sound because the sound that was designed for a cry is not always be attended to, it slowly leaves and isn&#8217;t necessary anymore because there is not always someone to meet the needs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">God comfort her in the night&#8230;let her know your love and know she&#8217;s not alone, orphaned but not alone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I kissed her forehead and left.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Love is about service to others. Love is something that bonds people to each\u00a0other and places and things. \u00a0Love is our deepest longing. \u00a0Let her know love.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A beautiful 6 year old girl saw us getting ready to leave.
